Liberating Performers:        (Audio)

Escaping the Trap of Nervousness, Self-judgment and Fear

    A practical in-depth workshop at the Voice Dep't. of a university – March 2008
   Audio recording in MP3 format on 1 CD-ROM - approx. 12 hours   ISBN 978-1-897452-50-9

Click here for a complete description of the material and the CD contents.

There are almost 12 hours of material on the CD. The participants — all singers and singing teachers — bring pretty much the whole range of performance anxiety problems into the workshop, and each of them has a chance to explore their situation in specific detail, revealing where and why they get trapped in their judgment and anxiety reactions.

Along with the in-depth explorations of each person's situation, David also describes the nature of the four elements of our inbuilt "Value Assessment" system that we need to be clear about to avoid making crucial mistaken perceptions of the performance situation. This will give you a whole new understanding of what you are caught in and how you can meet performance moments differently.

Whatever the specific details of your own performance anxiety, you will find insights from one or more of these examples that will shed light on your situation. And, you'll be shown the specific steps each person learns to apply in practice to go into performance in a new way. Then you'll hear all the feedback about how people found it so different for them.

Of course, these insights are equally applicable to any sort of performance: singing, music, dance, acting, circus arts, public speaking, business presentations or meetings, even social anxiety situations, so the material on this workshop will also help you learn about and change any of those habits too.

Standing on Top of the World:        (Audio)

Experiencing the Fundamental Freedom of Support & Balance

A series of practical demonstrations from workshops in 2003 and 2004
   Audio recording in MP3 format on 1 CD-ROM - 26+ hours   ISBN 978-1-903518-24-3

Click here for a complete description of the material and the CD contents.

Support and balance are the two sides of our most fundamental moment-to-moment relationship with the planet. If you are like most people, you are probably going about your daily life in an uncentered and ungrounded support without realizing it. You may not feel particularly out of support or off-balance, but you are probably feeling the inevitable results—the holding yourself up and sense of weight and working against 'gravity'—that lead to ongoing tensions and effort. This not only wastes enormous energy but all-too-often causes chronic and progressive damage.

It is your birthright to have the poise and grace that come with balanced and supported movement. Without this, your best efforts at freedom and ease will always be undermined, and your sense of calmness and presentness will be lost to you.

What is it?
This series of demonstrations has been developed over the last 15 years by David Gorman to teach people, in a very practical and experiential way, the principles of support and balance and how to live them in everything you do.

The series takes you through simple practical demonstrations you can do at home that will show you clearly through your own experiences the benefits of freedom and ease this knowledge gives you.

Collectively, the series will also refine your ability to be in touch with your own system's signals about your support and orientation—feedback that will become second nature in guiding you and telling you what you need to know in order to be supported, whole and easy, free to respond and present in your life.

On Balance and Support:
 (DVD video)
A demonstration of the principles of balance and support, and how to teach them

A series of experiential demonstrations on the principles of balance & support - May 2005
DVD Video - PAL (European) format on 1 region-free DVD disk   (1 hour run time)
   ISBN 978-1-903518-46-5      ISRC CA-G42-08-00005     LM Item #: V003-BAS-EN

This video is of a 1-hour lecture demonstration given at an Alexander
Technique Teacher training course in London, UK. The series of demonstrations in this session form the basis for understanding the principles of balance and support. David also highlights at each stage the importance of the sensory experiences that we need to get in touch with to be able to use ourselves well.

This video forms a great teaching resource with its pointers for teachers about how to be aware of their pupil's balance and support, how to build the experiences of balance and support into each lesson. Play it for pupils (or allow them to borrow it), or, better still, incorporate what David shows into your own teaching to your pupils.

Sounds of Provence – Day & Night        (Audio)

The quintessential sounds of the hot Provençal summer

    Audio recording – 1 CD (71 min.)   ISBN  978-1-903518-36-6

     (LM Item #: A0002-CIG-EN)

What is it?
This audio CD captures those beloved sounds of the Provençal summer – the "zzz-zzz zzz-zzz" of the cigales (cicadas) in the hot lazy afternoons and the peaceful chirping of crickets in the cool, star-filled evenings (plus a bonus track of a summer thunderstorm and rain). Recorded live in the woods outside our home in the countryside near Avignon and Nîmes.

If you have spent time in Provence, this will bring it all back to you, if you haven't, you can put this CD on, turn the heat up, pour yourself a glass of rosé, and indulge your imagination...
